As the solo artisan behind my Iznik works, the pricing reflects several key factors:
My high prices are due to the quality of the materials and 50 hours of dedicated work just for the painting stage alone.

Additionally, some of my original designs, which I craft from scratch, command a higher price. This is because they require not only significant labor but also an extensive creative process from initial concept to final execution. Read more about my craftsmanship

Pricing & Value

each tile takes 35+ hours of handwork. i paint every piece myself using:

  • 500-year-old techniques
  • authentic quartz paste
  • natural mineral pigments
  • traditional double-glaze firing.

original designs i create from scratch require additional time for research and pattern development.

this is slow art, not fast production. each piece is signed, documented, and made to last generations.

yes. custom commissions split into two payments:

  • 50% when you order (starts the work)
  • 50% before shipping (once complete)

this applies to custom tiles, tile panels, and commissioned artwork.

Product & Materials

single tiles range from 10cm × 10cm to 25cm × 25cm (unframed)

tile panels vary by design; some are multi-tile compositions.

exact dimensions listed on each product page.

my tiles are artworks, not functional tiles. they're designed to be framed and displayed like paintings.

technically, the glazed surface can handle moisture, but i don't recommend using them as wall coverings in wet areas. the hand-painted details deserve to be showcased as art, not hidden as backsplash.

300gsm cotton watercolor paper works best for watercolor or gouache painting.

print at 100% scale. avoid glossy or regular printer paper, the paint won't absorb properly.

  • no. on ceramic tiles, colors are sealed under glaze and fired at high temperatures. they never discolor or fade.
  • on your printed templates, use artist-grade paints and keep finished work away from direct sunlight for longevity.

all my tiles come with frame, ready to hang.

if you'd like to change the frame, my suggestions:

  1. use a deep shadow box frame (at least 2-3cm depth) to accommodate the tile's thickness.
  2. mount the tile on a backing board with museum putty or adhesive strips. avoid pressing glass directly against the tile surface.
  3. many frame shops offer custom framing for ceramic art. share the exact tile dimensions when ordering.

Ethical Practices

it depends on the collection:

  • turkish ceramic tiles collection: decorative ceramic tiles painted in traditional iznik style.
  • iznik tiles & wares collection: authentic iznik tiles with quartz content up to 85% in the paste - the historical standard for genuine iznik ceramics.

both use traditional 16th-century ottoman painting techniques.

the difference is:

  • the material composition
  • firing temperature
  • paints

yes. traditional turkish ceramics, including authentic iznik pottery, contain trace amounts of lead in the glaze. this is what creates the vivid, jewel-like colors that have defined ottoman ceramics for 500 years.

do not use for food or drink. these are decorative art pieces only.

this is standard for all authentic traditional turkish ceramics worldwide, no matter what some touristic shop may state.

yes. i work with trusted suppliers in turkey who source natural mineral pigments and clay materials responsibly.

authentic iznik production uses quartz, clay, and natural minerals: materials that have been used for centuries without depleting resources.

my slow production process (weeks per piece, not mass manufacturing) inherently reduces waste and environmental impact.

yes. every piece i create follows the strict rules of the classic iznik period (16th century).

i use the same hand-painting methods, mineral pigments, pattern structures, and firing processes that ottoman artisans used 500 years ago. no shortcuts, no modern adaptations.

whether on ceramic or authentic iznik tiles, the techniques remain faithful to the tradition taught by my masters.
